Angela Northington currently serves as Senior Vice President, Content Acquisitions for RLJ Entertainment, overseeing the acquisition of content for the company’s urban division, as well as its newly launched subscription VOD platform Urban Movie Channel (www.UrbanMovieChannel.com), launched in 2014 by BET founder Robert L. Johnson. The subscription channel specializes in video on demand content for the African American and urban audience. Angela recently joined RLJE from Revolt TV, a new music network founded by Sean “Diddy” Combs which launched in the fall of 2013 on Comcast and Time Warner, introducing music-oriented content to REVOLT’s audience of young adults. A seasoned entertainment executive, Angela has an extensive background in content strategy, acquisitions and development. Prior to REVOLT, Northington held previous positions at companies on the cutting edge of urban & specialty content distribution, including Codeblack Entertainment, Simmons Lathan Media Group (production/media company of industry mogul Russell Simmons and TV producer Stan Lathan), and Urban Entertainment (Time Warner). At each post, Angela was responsible for acquiring and building the company’s content library, as well as content distribution through digital rights licensing, broadcast licensing and International sales. Ben Huang, Vice President of Marketing, Ericsson TV Platforms: Ben Huang has been focused on the intersection of media and technology for more than 15 years. He is the Vice President of Marketing for the TV platforms business at Ericsson. In this capacity, he oversees marketing programs for the entire product portfolio, including Ericsson Mediaroom, MediaFirst, Mediaroom Reach, Multiscreen TV and Content Management System product lines. Ben joined Ericsson as part of the Mediaroom acquisition from Microsoft. During his 10 year tenure at Microsoft, Ben led various initiatives involving new business opportunities, emerging markets, product management, and product planning.  Prior to Microsoft, he served as director of business development at PacketVideo, one of the pioneers in the mobile video space. While there, he led partnerships with major media companies and application developers to create mobile video services across Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Earlier in his career, Ben also worked in finance, strategic consulting, and venture capital covering the media, telecommunications, and technology industries. He is a frequent speaker at many top-tier industry events including the International Consumer Electronics Show, National Association of Broadcasters, and Digital Hollywood among others. Ben holds MBA and JD degrees from the Kellogg School of Management and Northwestern Law School and a bachelor’s degree from UCLA.

 

Adam Ware is Tennis Channel’s senior vice president, head of digital media, joining the network in spring 2014. He has extensive television experience as a media consultant across a variety of concentrations, including sports, entertainment and multicultural media. He most recently acted as founder and principal of Aware Media Consulting, a boutique firm that offered strategic counseling to media companies with a particular emphasis on digital media and emerging audiences. In that capacity, Ware was intimately involved in the development of select mobile and digital platforms for Tennis Channel, including the launch of the network’s app in 2013.  Based in Los Angeles, Ware oversees the continuation of the network’s extensive digital growth of late, including its Tennis Channel Everywhere app, the new OTT-TV subscription channel Tennis Channel Plus, the ongoing rollout of TV Everywhere and the network’s overall website and social media efforts.  Previously, he served as acting CEO of Mnet America, a U.S.-based television network dedicated to Asian Americans and Asian pop culture. While there, he oversaw the channel’s launch and growth to reach 20 million homes. With a sizeable list of other new-network launches on his resume, Ware has held senior leadership positions within numerous television organizations, including FOX, UPN and USA Broadcasting. Additional Aware Media Consulting clients included AOL, Comcast Cable, Liberty Media, Boston Ventures Investment Partners and the United Talent Agency.

 

Ian Greenblatt is Vice President, Strategy & Business Development. Greenblatt’s  role is centered around defining and driving the output of software and hardware based converged experiences and next generation television products to research and industry partners. This includes driving best-of-breed partnerships and corporate development opportunities. He also serves the company as a subject matter expert around the business of television and both traditional and OTT content distribution, as well as content metadata and the second screen.  Prior to joining ARRIS through the acquisition of Motorola Home, Greenblatt was co-founder and General Counsel of Broadbus Technologies, the pioneer of solid-state memory based computer systems for delivering both movies and television on-demand. Broadbus is considered to be one of the most successful start-ups in the New England region since the tech bubble of '99, evidenced by its acquisition by Motorola in September 2006 for $181m.  Prior to Broadbus, he held positions with Fox, Warner Bros., Kirkland & Ellis and The Entertainment & Intellectual Property Group (an entertainment law firm in Chicago). Ian is a frequent guest lecturer; he has lectured at MIT Sloan School of Management, Georgia Institute of Technology and Northwestern University, and industry events such as CES and DigitalHollywood. An avowed techie, he was an Alpha and Beta Tester for Sling.com, Joost, Hulu, Boxee, and many Motorola devices and services. He holds a BSC from Northwestern University, a JD from DePaul University College of Law, and sits on the board of directors of USC's Marshall School of Business Institute of Communication Technology Management.

Steve Wong, Director Telco & Media Sales Americas, Siemens: Steve Heads the Media & Entertainment Division for Siemens in the Americas and is serial start-up media and entertainment internet infrastructure person who enjoys putting first-ever disruptive technology in the hands of billions.  Steve was recognized with a 2007 Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Engineering Development for the Teranex Video Computer. Steve is a Member of the Interactive Media Peer Group of The National Academy of Television Arts& Sciences (The Emmy Awards). He is an Executive Academy Member of The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (The Webby Awards). In addition, Steve is a Hollywood Section Manager of The Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers® (SMPTE®). For fun, Steve is a marathon runner, crossfit competitor and writes and produces independent feature films. Currently, Steve is in pre-production for his independent film “Checkmate”  Steve was a co- lecturer with former US Ambassador Gary Locke & former Mayor of Los Angeles Antonio Villaraigosa at “The Global Leadership Program” sponsored by USAChina Investments Group hosted at University of Southern California. Steve also is a visiting lecturer at the University of Southern California Marshall School of Business Lloyd Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies.  Steve began his career in broadcasting working for Belo Broadcasting and then moved to ABC Capital Cities (purchased by Disney) as Director of Research and Development. In this role, Steve experimented with broadcasting live news on the internet with Cu-Seeme back in 1995.  During the times of broadcast conversion from Analog to Digital, Steve used his knowledge of broadcasting to advice stations on broadcast equipment while at Leitch technologies (purchased by Harris then purchased by Imagine)  During the times of broadcast and post production conversion from Standard Definition to High Definition, Steve joined a Department of Defense Military technology spin-off start up (Teranex) that used Parallel computing for video conversion and pre-compression processing. In his role, Steve advised a number of broadcasters, postproduction studios, and movie studios on conversion, noise reduction, and 3:2 pull down.  As content moved on-line, Steve moved into video transmission, storage, and distribution joining Level 3. Steve advised client on the best practices for online live broadcast and Video on Demand distribution, storage, and monetization. Currently Steve heads the media and entertainment group of Siemens helping clients develop profitable turnkey businesses to deliver live and VOD content to consumers via mobile devices.  Over the years, Steve has advised a number of start-up companies.
